Jason Statham didn't take 'Safe' ''too seriously''.
The 44-year-old actor wanted to give people their ''moneys worth'' for his latest movie - which sees him star as former New York police officer Luke Wright who rescues a 12-year-old Chinese girl and finds himself fighting corrupt politicians and Russian mafia - and he believes the film is ideal for those who love action.
He told BANG Showbiz: ''We weren't taking this too seriously, we are just trying to give people their $10 of entertainment. It's all about trying to get people to get their moneys worth and in a genre film if they like action movies then they are going to expect a certain amount of action to turn up so we've got all of it.
''We've got car chases and the hand-to-hand stuff and we're trying to sell exactly what people are going to buy.''
Despite being renowned for starring in action movies, Jason- who has appeared in 'The Expendables', 'Death Race' and 'Crank' - insists he tries to experiment with other genres just to experience something he hasn't done before.
Speaking the European Premiere of 'Safe' at the BFI IMAX in London's Waterloo last night (30.04.12), he added: ''I do try and look for something that I haven't done before in a creative way. But everyone knows, if they've seen any of the silly action films that I've done, whether you want to call them that or not, then if you like action I tend to do more of those than anything else. So we won't lie about that.''
