Jazz singer CARLA WHITE has died following a long battle with cancer. She was 55. White passed away at her home in New York City on 9 May (07). Born in Oakland, California, but raised in Bellport, New York, White spent two years studying at the Webber-Douglas Academy Of Dramatic Art in London before traveling around Europe and North Africa. She launched her solo career in 1985. A memorial service will be held at St. Peters Church in New York on 8 June (07).
