Jenna Jameson has written an erotic novel.

The ex-porn star's first foray into fiction, 'Sugar', will be published in October and the story revolves around a former X-rated actress who moves to New York City to start a new life away from the adult industry.

Jenna admits writing the book was a challenge but she is confident her racy past career and appreciation of romance will give women an exciting read.

She told RadarOnline.com: '''SUGAR' is something new and exciting for me. I've never written anything like this before and it was a wild ride. I've always been romantic and probably a little kinky. The time was right for me to express myself in 'SUGAR'. I think it's the hottest thing you'll ever read.''

Jenna - who has starred in such films as 'Hard Evidence', 'Jenna's Tough Love' and 'Camera Sutra' - is no stranger to the publishing world.

Her 2004 autobiography 'How to Make Love Like a Porn Star' sold over 250,000 copies and spent six weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Jenna - who raises four-year-old twin boys, Jesse and Journey, with former UFC champion Tito Ortiz - insists her memoir was a very different book because it was a ''personal journey''.

She said: ''My memoir was a very personal journey for me, but a lot has changed in my life since it was published.''

There has been a boom in erotic publishing since the success of the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' book series by E. L. James which have sold over 70 million copies worldwide.
