Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, just one month after celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary, have announced their decision to split. The decision comes following rumours that Jennifer Lopez was unhappy with Marc Anthony's disapproval of her returning to American Idol for a second season, with many speculating that he wanted her to spend more time with their young family. Lopez told E! Online: "We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

The couple got married in 2004 and have 3 year-old twins, Max and Emme. Although some are speculating that the tipping-point for the couple were the rumours surrounding Idol, the facts on the split remain unclear, as to the details on how or whether divorce papers are being drawn up. Msn reported that plans the pair had for a new TV talent show Qviva, which was to showcase the best in Latin-American talent in music, dance and the performing arts, may now be shelved. They were being assisted by American Idol creator Simon Fuller in setting up the show.
