Jennifer Lopez has just been named as Forbes' most powerful celebrity, though her American Idol reign appears to be coming to an end. Lopez publically cast doubt on her future on the show this week, though sources tell E! News that she plans to call it quits after the current season.
Lopez hinted at her departure at Monday's premiere (May 14, 2012) of 'What to Expect When You're Expecting', saying, "It's tough. It's a balancing act. You put them first and then you have all these other things that you have to do, that you have to give your time to as well, and you have to make sure that they're OK in the process". It's certainly true that Lopez has a huge year coming up, what with her world tour with Enrique Iglesias that kicks off in the summer in Latin America. Of her future on American Idol, a source said, "She's just too busy". Fox has declined to comment on J'LO's future, though a production insider said, "Fox does not want to let her go. They love her". The singer has judged on the show for two seasons, with short-term one year contracts for both - she took home $12 million the first time around, with a healthy raise to $20 million for the current season.
Meanwhile, over at The X Factor Usa, Simon Cowell has refuelled his judging line-up with the acquisitions of Demi Lovato and Britney Spears to his team.
