British actress Jennifer Saunders has credited her time spent working on the Spice Girls musical with helping her deal with her cancer diagnosis, insisting the project "really kept me going".
The Absolutely Fabulous star spent 10 months fighting breast cancer, and she underwent surgery and chemotherapy before doctors told her she was in remission in 2010.
She kept herself occupied by writing upcoming stage spectacular Viva Forever, which is based on the hits of the 1990s girl group - and Saunders is convinced the musical helped her through her health battle.
She tells the Daily Mirror, "I started writing the musical two months into my breast cancer treatment and it really kept me going. It took me a while to get back to a normal pace again, but I had a really great support network around me."
