Jeremy Clarkson - Jeremy Clarkson Injunction Lifted
British TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has lifted an injunction he took out last year (Oct10) in a bid to keep his ex-wife from going public with secrets about his private life.
The Top Gear host applied for the gagging order against Alexandra Hall, who he was married to for a year in 1989, to prevent her from writing about their relationship.
Hall alleges they continued a sexual affair during his marriage to current wife Frances.
On Wednesday (26Oct11), Clarkson applied to London's High Court to have the ban lifted and admits he is relieved the order has been withdrawn.
He says, "Injunctions don't work, they are pointless. If you have one, everyone on Twitter and the internet knows you've got it. But because I am bound by the same order, I can't speak about it or defend myself. There is an assumption that I am guilty because I can't say anything. My wife and I decided to let it go. My ex-wife is now free to tell her story and people can either believe it or not, it's up to them."
Hall is now hoping to tell her side of the story, adding, "I just want the truth to come out. It feels like a huge cloud has been lifted from above me."
