Michael Jackson - Jermaine Jackson Insists Michael Was Not Addicted To Drugs

Michael Jackson's brother insists the late star was "not addicted" to drugs.

The singer died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 but his sibling Jermaine Jackson claims the 'Thriller' hitmaker's desire for the strong anaesthetic was due to him being plagued by insomnia, not an inability to cope without the prescription medication.

He said: "There was an addiction to Demerol in 2001 in... the early 2000s, but that was because of pain. Even during the autopsy report, there was no addiction to any of that.

"Michael just wanted to sleep - he did not want to die."

Michael's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of his famous patient earlier this week and could face up to four years in prison when he is sentenced later this month.

However, Jermaine believes the proposed sentence is too "soft".

He told TV talk show host Ellen Degeneres: "He trusted the doctor and the negligence and everything ... it's really sad because we lost an incredible person. To see and hear the verdict - my mother cried, and we consoled her, and the fans were cheering and everything but it's not bringing Michael back. We lost a brother.

"The sentencing [maximum] was very soft ... to give him two years for taking a life. Forget about Michael Jackson, but taking anyone's life.

"But it happens to be my brother who loved the world and loved people and did so much for the world. He cared about people, human beings, children."

Anyone who is so ignorant after now knowing the facts that Michael Jackson was not an addict should be held accountable for slandering his name. The public only needs to say: Prove it. The coroner already proved it NOT to be true.

Whilst I've agreed all along MJ was 'killed' by Murray due to his (M) negligence, the Jackson's were aware of Michael's addiction 2 drugs, be same for relief of pain or otherwise. And sourrounded by the greedy 'free-for-all' quacks, drugs were dished out like smarties 2 Michael & being the powerful person Michael was, refusal was not an option & as long as the cash flowed, the drugs were served. Whoever suggested propofol, & the sleep awarded via same would have course been welcomed by Michael, & yes it (P) would have had the desired affect causing greed on Michael's part for more - but, Murray should have declined explaining the danger associated with this powerful drug. There are many people taking strong pain relief medication & rely on same daily but, GP's will monitor withdrawal if warranted due to the dangers associated - but never increase dosage. Murray was blinded by greed, fame, and all that was associated being Michael's personal Doctor - in his eye's 'he was above the law'. This story will not act as a deterrent 2 Doctors or other famous performers, there will be caution but the 'deals' will continue and I daresay propofol will become a more sought after 'underground' drug given the publicity via the trial. Where there is money, there will be a way.

I admire Jermaine for standing up for Michael in the face of an avalanche of "drug addiction" charges by the media and the defense. I think Michael was a "situational" drug user. When he was under a great deal of stress, as he had to be with TII looming, his anxiety and insomnia haunted him. He needed help. I wish someone had been able to reach him. We lost an incredible talent, musical genius and unparalled humanitarian. Keep pushin', Jermaine. There are people listening...
