Jessica Chastain - Jessica Chastain winning plaudits for Zero Dark Thirty
Jessica Chastain is nominated for two Best Actress awards for her role as a real-life CIA agent in Kathryn Bigelow's drama 'Zero Dark Thirty', as well as being tipped for an Oscar.
Jessica Chastain is up for two awards for her role in 'Zero Dark Thirty'.
The 35-year-old actress plays a real-life CIA agent who had a crucial role helping track down Al-Quaeda leader Osama bin Laden, and her controversial role in the drama has earned her Best Actress nominations at the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice awards - as well as being tipped for an Oscar.
In order to portrayal her character accurately, Jessica revealed that she did ''extensive research'' into the terrorist group and the death of bin Laden - who was killed in a compound in Abottabad, Pakistan, in May 2011.
She explained to GQ magazine: ''We did extensive research. Books upon books. I read [Lawrence Wright's] 'The Looming Towers', I read Michael Scheuer's book on Osama bin Laden. I got to know my subject inside out.''
The flame-haired beauty also praised the agent - known as Maya - she plays in Kathryn Bigelow's film and her courageous work, explaining she found the task a ''huge responsibility''.
She said: ''I've never had really a responsibility like this. I'm playing a real woman, and that's a huge responsibility because I really admire Maya and I don't want to feel I betrayed her.
''She can't take credit for what she accomplished because she's undercover. She can't call out the press and say 'It was me.' So making this movie is like thanking her and giving her credit for what she's done.''
