American Idol - Jim Carrey's Daughter Auditions For American Idol
Jim Carrey's daughter Jane Carrey has auditioned for this year's series of American Idol. For her audition, she sang a version of Bonnie Raitt's 'Something To Talk About' and got an unanimously agreed-upon ticket to Hollywood from the show's judges, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson.
In her pre-audition interview, Jane talks about the pressures and rewards of growing up with Jim Carrey as a father in a life that she describes as "fairly normal" and says that her father is "not the most extravagant of celebrities." She says that there is a "pressure to be better" and discusses her need to make her own place in the world. Somewhat fittingly, when the audition was aired and she landed her place in the next round, her exit from the audition room was soundtracked by the sound of Fleetwood Mac's 1970s classic, song 'Go Your Own Way.' Jane is then shown outside of the audition room, calling her dad on speakerphone, with the show's host, Ryan Seacrest telling Jim "she did a great job, man. everyone's in tears here so it's a good moment."
Jane is Jim Carrey's child from his first marriage, to the former actress and Comedy Store waitress Melissa Worner. Jane, who is now 24, has a son with her husband Alex Santana, who plays in the band Blood Money.
