Jim Davidson - Jim Davidson Gets Driving Ban For Speeding In Aston Martin
Jim Davidson, the British comic and former host of Snooker show 'Big Break', has been banned from driving for six months after refusing to name the driver of his car when it was caught speeding, reports the UK Sun newspaper.
When initially asked who was driving the Aston Martin sports car, Davidson asked authorities, "Is it OK if I nominate someone I don't like?" The comedian appeared at Maidstone Crown Court in Kent on Wednesday (17th August 2011) and claimed it was either him or his bodyguard driving the car at 39mph in a 30mph zone. The 57-year-old said he initially refused to name the driver because he was worried about giving the wrong information. Davidson, who left the UK in 2004 for the tax-free haven of Dubai, has often courted controversy for his act which often relies heavily on jokes about ethnic minorities, homosexuals and disabled people. He was declared bankrupt in 2006 after failing to keep up payments on a 1.4 million tax bill. At the time, he told Bbc News, "This is kind of a shock to me," Davidson told the Bbc News website. The tax man has, for reasons best known to himself, pulled the rug out from under my feet.I am still pretty solvent. I just can't pay 700,000 right now".
The comedian, who returned to the UK in 2010, recently toured with a new play titled 'Stand up...and be Counted".
