Jodie Foster Defends Mel Gibson
JODIE FOSTER has come to the defence of her close friend MEL GIBSON, following the release of aggressive phone calls he made to ex-girlfriend OKSANA GRIGORIEVA. Foster co-starred with Gibson in the 1994 movie 'Maverick', and she told More Magazine that he was "the easiest, nicest person I've ever worked with", before adding, "The second I met him, I said, 'I will love this man for the rest of my life".
The pair recently teamed up for forthcoming movie 'The Beaver', which Foster also directs. Gibson plays 'Walter Black', the depressed CEO of a toy company who begins to walk around with a puppet of a beaver on his hand, treating it like a living creature. No release date has been set due to the actor's recent public controversies. Foster spoke specifically about Gibson's role in the movie, saying, "Of course, Mel is an undeniably gifted actor and director and The Beaver is one of his most powerful and moving performances. But more importantly, he is and has been a true and loyal friend. I hope I can help him get through this dark moment."
It's not the first time that the 47-year-old actress has stood up for Gibson - in 2006, she defended him after he was accused of making anti-Semitic remarks whilst under arrest for drunk driving.
