Johnny Depp is reportedly on a 'green tea' diet to prepare himself for a forthcoming movie role.
JOHNNY DEPP, the 47-year-old American actor, is reportedly drinking "gallons of green tea" in a bid to lose weight for his role in the upcoming movie 'Dark Shadows', reports the UK's Sun newspaper. Set for release in 2012, the film is described as being a "gothic horror" tale about the adventures of a vampire named 'Barnabas Collins'. Depp has been cast in the leading role and it is believed he is looking to get down to around 10st in weight.
'Dark Shadows' is set to be directed by Depp's long-time collaborator Tim Burton and filming is scheduled to get underway in April 2010. The newspaper claims that the actor has already begun his 'green tea diet' to ensure he's at his slimmest when filming begins, adding, "Johnny is aiming to get down to 140lbs, so he looks as gaunt as possible". The 49-year-old, who recently starred in Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland' adaptation, is reported to be supporting the diet with "low fructose fruit" such as pineapples and strawberries.
'Dark Shadows' is based on the gothic soap opera of the same name that aired on ABC between 1966 and 1971 and starred JONATHAN FRID as 'Barnabas'.
