Johnny Depp will star in Wes Anderson's next movie, Deadline.com have revealed. Keen to capitalise on the success of Moonrise Kingdom, Anderson is getting to work on his next movie, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Wes has written the script for the movie and will be directing it, too, as well as producing, along with the help of Scott Rudin and Steven Rales.
Depp is still currently working on The Lone Ranger, for Disney and has undergone some turmoil in his personal life over the last few weeks, as his split from long-term partner Vanessa Paradis went public. Depp will star in The Lone Ranger, which is directed by Gore Verbinski, playing the role of Tonto. He's the sidekick to the Lone Ranger himself, played by Armie Hammer. Helena Bonham Carter and Tom Wilkinson also star in the film, which is scheduled for release in July 2013. Once he's wrapped that film up, Depp will be free to move on to his next project, which is likely to be The Grand Budapest Hotel, though a new Pirates of the Caribbean has been announced as well (the release date for that, however, is currently unknown)
Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom has been one of 2012's art-house success stories. The highly-anticipated movie, from the director of The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou has raked in almost $40 million in box office sales since its release in May 2012. With Depp on board, the likelihood is that The Grand Budapest Hotel will see similar levels of success.
