Johnny Robinson, one of more extravagant performers on THE X FACTOR UK, is being investigated after allegations he is falsely claiming incapacity benefit while appearing on the show, according to the UK's Daily Mirror.

Last week, Johnny impressed judges with a rendition of The Darkness track 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love', but his elaborate stage routine, which saw him lowered from a platform, appears to have raised eyebrows. The Department for Work and Pensions have been "in contact" with the singer over his claiming of benefits for Spondylitis, a condition that leaves him with a stiff spine. A welfare spokesperson said, "Incapacity benefit is there to support people who are unable to work and if someone's circumstances change or new evidence comes to light, they may not get the benefit any more.We are currently in a process of re-assessing everyone who claims incapacity benefit to see if they are fit for work". The probe comes one year after X Factor star Wagner was accused of claiming incapacity benefit despite a series of energetic performances in front of an audience of millions.

A spokeswoman for the X Factor said, "Johnny declared to us that he was receiving benefits. He is in contact with the Department for Work and Pensions due to his appearance on the show".
