Singer Josh Groban and Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell have been named among the recipients of the 2012 National Arts Awards.
Officials at the Americans for the Arts organisation will honour Groban with the Young Artist Award, while Tony Award-winning actor Mitchell will receive the Outstanding Contributions to the Arts Award and the Lifetime Achievement prize will be handed to artist James Rosenquist.
Taking to Twitter.com to acknowledge the accolade, a humbled Groban writes, "No award could mean more to me than this. I'm deeply honored (sic) and look forward to continuing the fight for arts ed (education)".
The National Arts Awards will be presented at a ceremony in New York on 15 October (12).
