Joss Whedon - Joss Whedon Couldn't Say No To Avengers 2
Joss Whedon was thrilled to be asked to write the sequel to 'Avengers Assemble' and says signing on was an easy decision to make.
It has taken a while for the writer and director to sign on for the sequel, but he insists it was never a ''tough decision.''
He told Crave Online: ''It would've been an easy no and it was a spectacularly easy yes.''
Joss admitted that initially he thought that writing and directing the sequel would never happen, which he would have been fine with.
He revealed: ''When I actually started to consider it, it became so clear that I desperately wanted to say more about these characters.''
The 48-year-old director impressed Disney bosses so much with 'Avengers Assemble' - which brought together many characters from the Marvel comics - that they signed him up for the sequel and also to develop a live action Marvel-themed TV show for ABC.
Announcing the development, Disney said in a statement: ''Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel's 'The Avengers 2' as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel's cinematic universe.''
