Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has quit 'The Crow'.

The Spanish director has decided to leave the remake of the 1994 supernatural action movie after agreeing to helm the reboot of 'Highlander'.

Fresnaillo first signed onto 'The Crow' reboot after original director Stephen Norrington stepped down last October.

The news of Fresnadillo's departure comes soon after Bradley Cooper quit the film.

The 'Hangover' star was due to play the main character but pulled out because of his busy schedule.

Cooper will start shooting David O. Russell's 'Silver Linings Playbook' in the autumn and then immediately begins filming 'Paradise Lost' - the same time 'The Crow' is set to be made.

Although a replacement for Cooper is yet to be decided, Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg are reportedly being considered.

'The Crow' - which is based on the 1989 comic book - tells the story of a rock musician who is murdered while trying to save his partner, only to be resurrected and seek his revenge.

Brandon Lee played the role originally, but was killed during production on set in 1993.

The film was due to start later this year, with Tucker Tooley ('The Fighter') on board as an executive producer.
