The judge in actress Nicollette Sheridan's wrongful-termination suit has declared a mistrial after jurors failed to reach a verdict on Monday (19Mar12).
Judge Elizabeth White sent the members of the deadlocked jury home on Friday (16Mar12) and urged them to consider the case over the weekend, but they returned to court on Monday still stuck on a verdict.
The jury found eight to four in favour of Sheridan, one person shy of a decision.
The actress is seeking $6 million (Gbp3.75 million) from creator Marc Cherry and executives at Touchstone Television Production after claiming her Desperate Housewives character was killed off because she complained to producers about an incident between herself and Cherry, during which the writer/producer allegedly struck her.
A battery charge against Cherry was dismissed last week (12Mar12), before jury deliberations began.
The writer and TV bosses testified in court that the decision to axe Sheridan's character was made months before the alleged incident.
