Julia Ormond - Julia Ormond In Superman Talks
Julia Ormond is in talks to star in 'Superman: Man of Steel' as the titular superhero's Kryptonian mother.
The 'My Week With Marilyn' actress is currently in negotiations with Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder to portray Lara Lor-Van, the Kryptonian parent of the titular superhero in 'Superman: Man of Steel', Deadline.com reports.
Russell Crowe is expected to take on the part of Jor-El, Superman's father - which was previously played by Marlon Brando in the original 1978 film, which starred the late Christopher Reeve as the Last Son of Krypton and his alter-ego Clark Kent - and is currently undergoing a strict fitness regime to get in shape for the role.
The 'Gladiator' star tweeted recently: "Just like your muscle has memory, so does your body. If I stop exercising my body tries to return to its heaviest weight.
"Today body movement 1hr, 50min walk, 14km bike ride. Body movement can be anything as long as your heart rates up & you're breathing deeply."
Julia and Russell would be joining an impressive cast which includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Kevin Costner as the flying hero's Earth-bound dad, Michael Shannon as villain General Zod and Amy Adams as Clark's love interest Lois Lane.
Director Zack recently insisted he is approaching the project as if the five previous movies do not exist.
He said: "Literally, the one thing that everyone can start to think about is that we're making a movie that finally goes with the approach that there have been no other Superman movies. If you look at 'Batman Begins' there's that structure: there's the canon that we know about and respect, but on other hand there's this approach that pre-supposes that there haven't been any other movies. That's what we're going with."
