Justin Bieber surprised hundreds of underprivileged school kids yesterday (17 Dec 2011). Justin Bieber came for a charitable visit to the Las Vegas school whilst also treating them to a private concert.

Two months ago, Bieber had pledged that he would donate $100,000 to the low-income Whitney Elementary and yesterday he provided them with the cheque. The money will be used to support the institute so the children can stay at the elementary. The school, which has one of the highest number of homeless children in Nevada, also pays family bills and provides children with clothes and a free or heavily discounted lunch. Bieber admitted that it was all close to home as his own family had had their financial struggles and were once forced to visit a food bank. He also treated the 650 students, many of whom are homeless, with an extra $100,000 in Christmas presents. Superstore Target also donated an additional $100,000 in honour of the cause.

Bieber soon performed a private concert, singing acoustic versions of Christmas songs, with the whole event being filmed for 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'. 17 year-old Kiersten Umberger said that she nearly broke down in tears when she saw Bieber: 'It was the best moment of my life'.

Justin Bieber is currently promoting his Christmas album worldwide, which is currently on release and has already reached the top of the Billboard Top 100.
