Justin Bieber was left momentarily red-faced on Wednesday's Today Show (23 November 2011) after flubbing the lines to the Christmas hit 'Santa Claus Is Coming to Town'. The 17-year-old was performing the holiday ditty surrounded by hundreds of screaming fans, some of whom may have taken his mind off the lyrics.
According to the New York Post, the singer gave the song the rap treatment - a version that features on his new festive album as well as the Ardman studios animated movie 'Arthur Christmas'. Backed by a string of dancers, Justin blanked out on several lines of the song, instead repeating the lines, "He's making a list" and" "He sees you when you're sleeping". Taking to the stage in a festive cardigan, Bieber may have been excused for fluffing his lines, given the amount of attention he was receiving from the screaming fans, some of whom had camped out all night to catch a glimpse of their idol. The performance also helped to cool reports that Justin favours lip synching for one-off shows - something he was accused of following his appearance at the 2010 Vma Awards. On that occasion, the singer never publically commented on the matter.
Another potential reason for the mishap is Justin's involvement in a long running paternity lawsuit. The pop superstar has given a Dna sample at a New Jersey facility in order to prove he is not the father of Mariah Yeater's 3-month old child.
