Justin Bieber has spoken of the difficulties he faced recording a duet of 'All I Want For Christmas Is You', with Mariah Carey. The hugely anticipated collaboration appears on Bieber's new festive album 'Under the Mistletoe', which hit shelves on Tuesday (1st November 2011).
As the most high profile duet on the Christmas record, the 17-year-old acknowledged the importance of nailing his part considering the song proved a smash hit for Mariah in 1994. The superstar diva had suggested the pair duet on the track after hearing an early recording of Bieber's solo take, however, the teen star's voice has since changed and Mariah was insistent the recording should be in its original key. Justin's manger Scooter Braun told Billboard magazine of the initial difficulties, saying "That was the hardest song to do.A year ago that would have been no problem" However, ever the professional, the Canadian star managed to eventually lay down the vocals, saying, "Yes, that was high. But I grinded it out and we got it down". Elsewhere on 'Under the Mistletoe', the 17-year-old's first new material since 'My World 2.0', Bieber collaborates with Boyz II Men on 'Fa La La' and adds some Motown flair to 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town'
The album's first single 'Mistletoe' was released on 17th October 2011, selling 164,000 copies in its first week, putting it at No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No.5 on the US Digital Chart.
