The Kaiser Chiefs are set to launch a new arena in their hometown of Leeds, England with a headlining concert next year (13).

The I Predict a Riot hitmakers will take to the stage at Leeds Arena on 13 September (13), and bass player Simon Rix is delighted they were fans' first choice to play the venue.

He tells the Yorkshire Evening Post, "I know the Yep ran a survey asking who should open the arena and we came top - that was really nice and definitely helped our case.

"So, we kinda had to be involved really and we were definitely up for it. Let's just say that when they did approach us to play it was a very easy discussion.

"You can always tell the difference when it's a homecoming crowd. Having played everywhere in Leeds from (small venue) The Duchess to Elland Road (soccer stadium), we are massively happy that Leeds has built somewhere new for us to play. We just can't wait to perform at the arena now."
