Karen Gillan, the Scottish actress best known for playing Doctor Who's sidekick Amy Pond, has split from her boyfriend of six-years Patrick Green. The news comes just months after Doctor Who himself Matt Smith called time on his relationship with model and socialite Daisy Lowe.
Gillan, 24, had been living with photographer Patrick in London but she let slip that the pair had split during an interview with the Radio Times. The actress plays supermodel Jean Shrimpton in the forthcoming Bbc4 drama 'We'll Take Manhattan', and when asked whether she and Patrick shared a similar relationship to Jean and photographer David Bailey, Gillan spoke in the past tense, saying, "We never really did any of that. It's quite healthy to keep certain things separate in a relationship, I think". A fiercely private pair, Karen and Patrick were rarely spotted in public together and according to the UK's Sun newspaper decided to go their separate ways after Gillan returned from filming We'll Take Manhattan in New York. She hit the headlines during her last trip to the Big Apple for a Doctor Who promotional tour, when she was found naked in a hotel corridor after a night of partying.
The actress is set to begin work on 'Not Another Happy Ending' - a comedy movie about a struggling publisher who discovers his only successful author has writers block.
