Kate Bush - Kate Bush Writing New Album Of Original Material
Kate Bush, the enigmatic singer-songwriter who releases her new compilation 'Director's Cut' today (16th May 2011), says she is working on a new album of original material. Kate Bush, whose last album 'Aerial' came out in 2005, confirmed that she had finished writing the album but had no idea when the record would be released.
In a rare interview, Bush told Radio 4's 'Front Row', that the album was ready to be recorded but was finding the experience "stressful", saying, "It's very frustrating the albums take as long as they do. I wish there weren't such big gaps between them". The singer-songwriter denied that she was too much of a "perfectionist" in the studio, noting, "I don't think I am. People have said this, but I don't think I really want anything to be perfect. I think it's important that things are flawed. That's what makes a piece of art interesting sometimes, the bit that's wrong or the mistake you've made that's led onto an idea you wouldn't have had otherwise". The reclusive singer's new compilation album features a selection of reworked songs from her albums 'Sensual World' and 'The Red Shoes', the latter of which featured guitar by Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton on the original version.
Kate Bush's new album 'Director's Cut' features guest appearances from legendary session musician Steve Gadd, noted double bassist Danny Thompson and Mica Paris. Three of the albums songs have been completely re-recorded, including 'This Woman's Work', which appeared on the soundtrack of the 1988 movie 'She's Having a Baby'.
