Kate Middleton and Prince William returned to St Andrews University today (25th February 2011), the venue where they first met almost a decade ago.
KATE MIDDLETON and PRINCE WILLIAM braved the windy Scottish weather to return to St Andrews University today to launch the school's 600th anniversary celebrations, reports the UK's Daily Mail.Ms Middleton wore a red coat with black belt and black leather gloves as she and husband-to-be PRINCE WILLIAM returned to the university six years after their graduation. The couple were warmly received on arrival by groups of well-wishers who had waited in the rain to catch a glimpse of the Royal couple. Today's visit represented the pair's first official Scottish engagement and the university announced that they would be creating a scholarship in their honour as a wedding gift. The couple are set to marry on 29th April 2011 at London's historic Westminster Abbey. In a speech made to the crowd of students and teachers, the Prince said, "This is a very special moment for Catherine and me, it feels like coming home. Despite being one of Europe's leading research institutions, the third-oldest university in the English speaking world, and of course far and away the best university in the world, St Andrews still has that uncanny knack of feeling like home and so it must have done for generations of undergraduates before us".
The new scholarship named after Prince William and KATE MIDDLETON will have a value of $70,000, meeting the costs of tuition, accommodation and living expenses for an undergraduate studying a degree in science, arts, medicine or divinity.
