Supermodel Kate Upton appears to have gone public with her baseball beau Justin Verlander after they were spotted vacationing together in St. Thomas over the New Year.

The rumoured couple rang in 2013 together at the Ritz-Carlton resort and fellow holiday-makers had little doubt the stars were an item.

One onlooker tells the the New York Post, "He keeps a conservative distance, but still you can tell they are dating."

Reports of a romance first hit the headlines last summer (12) when the Detroit Tigers pitcher and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model were spotted hanging out together at several Detroit hotspots - they even attended an Aerosmith concert.

The pair met while shooting a video game commercial in February (12).
