Kate Winslet has finally spoken about James Cameron's behaviour on the set of the 1997 movie Titanic, admitting that he lost his temper on numerous occasions. At the time, stories began to emerge as to how Cameron, clearly under pressure to deliver the huge-budget movie, was treating the crew.

Though it eventually made hundreds of millions at the box-office, the production was dogged by delays, over-running costs and the director's apparent fiery temper. Speaking at the premiere of the 3D version of the movie, Winslet told the Press Association, "Yes, it was hard, but no one ever said it was going to be easy. When all the stories started emerging about how tough it had been and Jim Cameron being mean to everybody and costs over-running, I went, wait a minute, what makes these people think they can speculate about all of this? They weren't there". When pushed on whether the rumors were indeed true, Winslet was up-front, explaining, "Yes, he lost his temper, but he only ever lost his temper for really, really good reasons. Like we would spend days literally setting up a shot, and if someone isn't doing his job and dumps water 10 seconds too late, then we've got to start over. ... Yeah, I could understand that man getting a little (ticked) off".

Cameron released the 3D version of the movie to mark the 100th anniversary of the ship sinking on April 14, 1912. Despite being criticized before the movie had even hit the screen, it was Cameron who finally had the last laugh. The director himself explained, "Ultimately, it proved to be a good film, and they all had to eat their words or just kind of shut up and pretend they hadn't said them".
