Katherine Jenkins dug deep emotionally as the latest round of Dancing With The Stars kicked off last night (April 2, 2012), but the results were worth it as the Welsh opera star continued her relentless seduction of America by gaining a huge ovation for her performance and a pair of 10s on her way to a score of 29 out of a possible 30.

MTV News reports that the theme of the latest week was Most Memorable Years, and Jenkins opted to go back in time to something hugely personal to her; 1996 - the year her father had lung cancer. It's no surprise then to report that by the end of her waltz with professional partner Mark Ballas she was in tears. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was similarly choked and there was no way the 31 year-old star wasn't going to get the highest score of the evening.

Elsewhere Maria Menounos proved that her one-off match at professional wrestling showcase Wrestlemania in Miami, Florida at the weekend hadn't left her too battered and bruised, and she scored 27 out of 30 with partner Derek Hough after a slow rumba. She was just pipped to second spot of the evening by soap star William Levy, who picked 1995 for his year in recognition of the time that he arrived in the U.S. from Cuba. At the bottom end of the rankings, positioning is a lot closer; now Martina Navratilova is out of the competition there's little to choose between any of the contestants and no less than five couples found themselves together on 24 points out of a possible 30. One of them has to go tonight.
