Katy Perry - Katy Perry Sues Over 'Cheating' Claims
Katy Perry is suing an Australian magazine over an article suggesting she had an affair.
Editors of NW magazine ran a front-page story in March (11) claiming the pop star, who is married to English funnyman Russell Brand, had an "intimate relationship" with record producer Benny Blanco.
The headline read: "World exclusive, Katy's other man" and also contained the words, "Split fears after shock revelation."
Perry has moved swiftly to take legal action over the article, filing a lawsuit against publishers Acp Magazines in the Victorian Supreme Court on Wednesday (27Apr11).
Perry's statement of claim alleges, "By reason of the publication of the article the plaintiff (Perry) has been gravely injured in her reputation and feelings (and) has suffered distress, embarrassment and humiliation."
The I Kissed a Girl hitmaker is pursuing not only damages but also aggravated damages, according Australia's Herald Sun newspaper.
