Kay Burley - Kay Burley Says Facelift Was 'Deeply Traumatic'
Sky News presenter Kay Burley took only three weeks to recover from her facelift and get back in front of the camera, though the 50-year-old claims the cosmetic surgery left her severely bruised and scarred.
Burley, a household name in television news, claims she could barely look at herself in the mirror after undergoing the surgery, telling the UK's Times newspaper, "It's a deeply traumatic procedure. It's not painful at all, but when you look at yourself in the mirror, you think, I'm never going to be me again". The controversial presenter bought herself a lower face and neck lift after celebrating her 50th birthday and although she suffered initially, Kay says she was thrilled with the results. A recent ageism row concerning Countryfile presenter Miriam O'Reilly led to successful legal action against the Bbc, but Burley says she felt no pressure to look younger for Sky, explaining, "People say, It's because you're on the telly. No, it's because I'm a woman and I want to look nice.If Mother Nature needs a helping hand, why not?", adding, "I've always tried to take care of myself, but this was something that no matter how many calories I burnt off, it didn't make any difference".
After months of researching the procedure, Kay chose president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons Rajiv Grover to perform the surgery. The presenter claims to have kept the facelift from her son because he was studying for his A-Levels at the time.
