Ke$ha Concert Axed After Drake Chaos
We have since learned that.....
"Paper Magazine and The South Street Seaport were excited about the prospect of providing free outdoor concerts from some of today's top-charting music artists. However, since it was demonstrated that the escalating popularity of the scheduled artists can result in crowds that exceed even the safe capacity of the Pier 17 concert stage, both Paper Magazine and The South Street Seaport have decided that the remaining events of the "Sounds like Paper" concert series will be relocated. Please look to www.papermag.com for more details. The separate and long-running events of the Seaport music festival will continue as scheduled without change.
A free concert in New York featuring KE$HA has been cancelled amid fears the show could descend into chaos like DRAKE's recently scrapped gig in the city.
The rapper was due to play a free show in conjunction with Paper magazine at Manhattan's South Street Seaport on 15 June (10), but police officials pulled the plug on the event after over-crowding led to violent outbursts.
Six people suffered minor injuries and two were arrested.
Now two more concerts due to take place at the venue have been cancelled by bosses at General Growth Properties, the company which owns the South Street Seaport.
The TiK ToK hitmaker's free gig has been axed along with an appearance by New York band Ratatat.
A letter written to Manhattan's Community Board 1, from representatives at General Growth Properties, states they have "chosen to cancel any forthcoming concerts in conjunction with Paper magazine", reports the New York Daily News.
