A tribute song performed by Welsh rocker Kelly Jones will be played at the funeral of tragic soccer star Gary Speed on Friday (09Dec11).
Speed, a former soccer player and manager of the Welsh national team, passed away last month (27Nov11) in an apparent suicide.
The Stereophonics frontman performed a version of Frankie Valli's classic Can't Take My Eyes Off You in memory of Speed on Welsh TV following his death as the song is an unofficial anthem for Welsh soccer fans.
Speed's widow Louise has now asked if she can play the track at the private family funeral on Friday.
Jones says, "It is a great honour. I hope the song is a fitting tribute to a great man. I was consumed the whole day last week when I heard the news. I couldn’t get my head around it."
