How about this for an eye for an eye? After his wife filed for separation back in January, jazz saxophonist Kenny G has upped the ante one notch further, by filing for divorce! Take that, Mrs G! Tmz reports that the documents for the divorce were filed last Thursday by the smooth jazz man, with the musician citing those most immovable of problems, "irreconcilable differences". In fairness to G, he and his wife, Lyndie Benson-Gorelick , have been married for 20 years so it's reasonable enough to assume that the issues that they're facing are pretty substantial indeed.
The documents reveal that there is a pre-nuptial in the marriage, which is key for the woodwind player as he's worth a reported $50 million, and it neatly sidesteps money becoming a thorny topic in the break up. Kenny has also asked for joint legal and physical custody of the one son the couple have between them.
Benson-Gorelick had initially filed for separation citing the same reason, and it would appear her husband just got bored of waiting for her to make the next move. Perhaps Kenny G's divorce will positively affect his career - he was of course largely at his commercial peak before he got married, and he's been on the slide ever since. It's pretty crazy to think that at one point he went 12 times platinum with just one album. The 20th century, eh, what a time to be alive.
