Actor Kiefer Sutherland's commitment to new U.S. series Touch has forced movies bosses to push back the film adaptation of 24.
The hit action drama came to an end in 2010 after eight seasons on air, but producers subsequently confirmed plans to turn it into a film.
The project has been plagued by scripting issues, and now the executive producer behind the TV show, Howard Gordon, reveals Sutherland's latest project has caused another delay for the Jack Bauer movie.
He tells Access Hollywood, "We were racing to get this thing done, and Kiefer was out promoting Touch and we got a script that we finally all really liked and we're talking to directors and it was all coming together, but it was kind of a run-n-gun...
"With Touch - I mean to just sort of jam it in, we all felt - at the last minute... it just didn't feel right to rush. We all feel so, so, strong about this - about this project - that we wanted to do it right.
"I think we are very committed to keeping it alive and to doing it, hopefully next cycle, when Kiefer next gets a break. Next year, yeah. Nobody wants it more than me - except maybe Kiefer."
