Kimberley Walsh is supporting Cheryl Cole through her marriage split.

The Girls Aloud singer admits she is particularly close to her bandmate - who separated from soccer star husband Ashley Cole earlier this year amid allegations he had cheated on her with several women - and hopes she has been as supportive for her pal as she has been to her in the past.

She said: "Of course, it's hard when any of your friends go through something upsetting. But all you can do is be as supportive as you possibly can be.

"With Cheryl and Nicola Roberts, it's the same. I don't know why we've bonded like we have, but I'd count them among my best friends. I look back at certain moments and think, 'What would I have done without them?' I wouldn't have coped."

While Kimberley is close to Cheryl and Nicola, she admits she has "drifted apart" from Los Angeles-based bandmate Nadine Coyle and admits they don't socialise together.

She told Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine: "People look for conflict where there isn't any. In any group there will be people you are really on the same wavelength as and others where it's different. But it doesn't mean we're not friends. It's like anyone you work with - you can get on really well but that doesn't mean you want to go on holiday with them.

"Nadine lives in Los Angeles now so it's inevitable you grow apart."

Despite the Irish singer quashing rumours of a rift between the group, bandmate Sarah Harding recently admitted she didn't even know Nadine had made a trip to London recently.

She said: "I didn't even now she was in London - I only found out when I saw the paper. Because she's in Los Angeles, I don't really talk to her."
