King Charles headlined the BT Vision Stage at BT London Live yesterday (02.08.12)

The eccentric folk singer joined performers including Alexandra Burke in Hyde Park, which is hosting celebrations and free shows on every day of the London 2012 Olympics, and said he was proud to be a part of the Olympics.

Speaking from the BT House at BT London Live, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''It's so exciting, I'm very pleased to perform at an Olympic celebration, it doesn't happen very often and I'm very proud to be here.''

Fans had waited at the foot the stage for up to two hours before his performance - which included his tracks 'Love Lust' and the title track of his album, 'Loveblood' - many wearing comic moustaches and back combed hair, in the style of the singer.

He added: ''It's great when I see them do that.''

The singer stayed true to his wacky image, wearing a shirt unbuttoned to his waist and having huge hair, and admitted it isn't an easy look to pull off.

He said: ''When I wear my hair down it takes a lot of work to not look ridiculous.''

Mumford and Sons and Noah and the Whale have helped boost Charles' career and introduced him to thousands of their fans when supporting them on tour. He said he hoped he would continue to perform alongside them for a long time, but was enjoying ''being in charge'' and headlining his own shows.
