Rockers Motley Crue and Kiss have pledged $100,000 (£62,500) to the victims of the Colorado cinema massacre.
During their joint concert in Denver on Wednesday (08Aug12), the bands announced they will hand the generous donation over to the Aurora Victim Relief Fund.
Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx and Kiss frontman Paul Stanley have told how they hope the gesture will inspire others to give.
Sixx says in a statement, "Following the heartbreaking news of the senseless shootings in Colorado we wanted to do something to help the families and victims. We bonded together with our tour partners and friends Kiss to donate money, but we also hope it inspires others to do the same, no matter how big or small."
Stanley adds, "The terror these innocent victims of the Aurora massacre must have experienced and the profound loss their families now face is unimaginable. We hope that our small gesture helps inspire others to band together in compassion and financial support for all involved in this unspeakable tragedy."
The fund was established to help victims who were affected when suspected gunman James Holmes allegedly opened fire on a packed movie theatre on 20 July (12) at a midnight showing of Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.
Twelve lives were claimed, while another 58 people were injured.
