Kutcher Paterno Tweet, Actor Posts "Im With Stupid" Pic
Ashton Kutcher is looking to win back his Twitter followers following his controversial Joe Paterno gaffe earlier this week. The Two and a Half Men star has appealed for fans to forget his comments about the college football coach, who was fired for not doing enough to respond to allegations his former assistant had sexually abused children, reports the New York Daily News.
Falsely assuming Paterno was sacked for football reasons, Ashton told fans, "How do you fire JoPa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste". He was duly scolded by Twitter followers, with one fan playing on the fact Kutcher is an activist against child sex crimes, saying, "Ashton Kutcher: Against child trafficking unless it involves college football" - the actor and wife Demi Moore have supported numerous child trafficking charities and have their own foundation. After realising his error, the Hollywood star immediately backtracked, saying, "Had no idea, thought it was a football thing.Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn't have full story". Despite announcing he was taking a break from Twitter, the actor again appealed for fans to forgive him, saying, "I'm just trying to be a good person", before posting a photograph of him standing next to a sign that read, "I'm with stupid" - the arrow was pointing towards himself.
Kutcher is considered one of the most popular celebrities on Twitter and boasts over 8 million followers - a figure that has greatly increased since he replaced Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men.
