Following the sad premature death of disco legend Donna Summer, aged 63, tributes have unsurprisingly been pouring in for the singer. Summer, with the help of producer Giorgio Moroder pretty much single-handedly created modern electronic dance music with her blinding eight minute opus 'I Feel Love,' subsequently one of the most sampled tracks of all time. Moroder himself was of course among those to pay tribute to the former session singer, who agreed to the song's importance, claiming she'd be remember "for her incredible voice and talent" and that her song I Feel Love "was really the start of electronic dance".
The tributes to the star went right to the very top though, with President Barack Obama said of the passing "Her voice was unforgettable, the music industry has lost a legend far too soon." Others who have paid their respects include Barbra Streisand, who duetted with Summer on 1979 hit 'No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)' and claimed she was "shocked" at the news, as were Dolly Parton, Dionne Warwick and Sir Elton John.
Many of these celebrities' reactions were of shock, with Parton writing "I can't believe we've lost another wonderful singer." Warwick meanwhile commented that she'd lost "a dear friend," and added "My heart goes out to her husband and her children." On Twitter meanwhile the list of names paying respect was endless, from Rihanna to Kelly Rowland and Mary J Blige, it seems everyone was influenced in part by the great Donna Summer.
