George Michael's lawyers will demand the incarcerated pop star is freed on bail while his case is appealed, according to U.K. reports.
The former Wham! singer was locked up at London's tough Pentonville jail for eight weeks on Tuesday (14Sep10) after he pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs.
He met with lawyers on Thursday (16Sep10) to discuss his options, and his legal team has decided to ask a judge to release the Faith singer while they appeal the verdict, according to Britain's The Sun.
A source tells the publication, "George is desperate to get out of Pentonville and still can't quite believe he's there. He's pinning all his hopes on a judge giving him bail."
Michael was also visited by his longterm partner Kenny Goss in a private room on Thursday - which reportedly caused outrage with angry fellow convicts, who have to meet their visitors in a main hall.
A prison source adds, "Officers had to make a decision based on the effect it would have on the entire wing."
Goss had his own brush with the law when he left the prison following his visit - he was handed a $120 (£80) parking ticket by a traffic warden after overstaying his parking time allowance.
