Lea Michele - Lea Michele Explains 'Glee' Exit On Twitter
Lea Michele has taken to Twitter in an attempt to explain her shock departure from Fox's hit comedy-musical Glee. Co-creator Ryan Murphy recently announced Michele is amongst three regulars whose characters will "graduate" during the conclusion of the current third season.
Lea, who has played 'Rachel Berry' since the first season, will leave the show along with Cory Monteith and fan favourite Chri Colfer. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Murphy said, "You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate." Seeking to appease disgruntled fans, Michele explained the decision on Twitter, saying, "We always knew we'd graduate in real time. It's all part of the plan and it's all good! It's going to make Season 3 amazing!!!" She later added, "To Gleeks everywhere, you're in my heart now and forever. Love u all!!! This is just the beginning!!" Colfer decided not to address the issue, instead tweeting about Glee's recent Emmy Award nominations, saying. "Thank you so much for all the congratulating tweets! I'm so excited for all of our nominations!".
It is rumoured Lea Michele could return to the stage, where she has previously appeared in Broadway productions of 'Les Miserables' and 'Ragtime'. She recently performed 'America the Beautiful' in front of 80,000 fans at the Super Bowl XLV.
