Liam Gallagher thinks his brother Noel's solo album will be "awful".

The Oasis frontman insists he is happy for his sibling, and Oasis bandmate, to work on his own musical project, but doesn't think it can match the quality of the group's records.

He told NME magazine: "Who knows, man, maybe he needs to go and do his solo record... f**king hell, I don't know, I really don't know.

"If doing a solo album makes him happy, yeah, it makes him happy. It would sound very civilised I reckon - that's a f***ing awful thing - but maybe it's a good thing for him."

While Liam is adamant he is happy with Noel's proposed LP, he admits he would prefer to make a new Oasis album next year instead.

He added: "If it was up to me I'd have six months off and then get straight back in the studio and make records. That's what I'm in Oasis for. I'm not here to f***ing sit around for five years twiddling my thumbs."

Noel revealed his solo plans earlier this year, saying: "I've got a lot of songs lying around and some of them are really great. But they're not Oasis songs. They're going to sit there and do nothing, so hopefully at the end of this tour I'm going to go and do something for myself."
