Liam Neeson 'Flattered' By A-team Offer
Liam Neeson confesses he was ''flattered'' to be asked to play the role of John 'Hannibal' Smith in 'The A-Team', but only got involved because he thought the film had a good story.
Liam Neeson was "flattered" to be asked to be in 'The A-Team'.
The Irish-born actor - who plays John 'Hannibal' Smith in the movie adaptation of the classic 1980s TV show - confesses he took the role because he liked The Script and because those casting were "interested" in him.
Asked why he chose the role at the UK premiere of the film at the Empire Cinema Leicester Square last night (27.07.10), Liam told BANG Showbiz: "I liked the script. I thought it was a really good action thriller. The characters kind of jumped out too, it wasn't the usual format. And they were interested in me! A bunch of strangers want you to do a job, it's nice. It's flattering."
However, he admitted having trouble when he was asked to smoke cigars like Hannibal did in the original show, as he gave up smoking a number of years ago.
He said: "The director insisted I smoked cigars, which was touch and go, as they were real Cubans. So it was touch and go for a few days."
