Liev Schreiber has rescued an injured stranger.

The 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' actor - who is in a long-term relationship with Naomi Watts - came to the aid of a poor woman who fell over outside his home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, last Saturday (16.03.13).

The kind-hearted star rushed to help her while a crowd gathered around to watch and was spotted whispering calming words to her while they decided whether to call the paramedics.

While it is not known what happened to the woman, Liev soon put the unfortunate incident behind him and enjoyed a day with his wife and their sons Sasha, five, and Samuel, four.

The 45-year-old star later tweeted an adorable picture of his youngest child all dolled up in a Leprechaun costume, alongside the caption, ''Happy Saint Patrick's Day!''.

Naomi previously revealed she hardly ever gets recognised when she's out in public and joked muscular Liev gets all the attention.

She said: ''I never get recognised on the street. I'm lucky that way ... Liev is really distinct and quite often people push me aside to get to him.

''They'll say, 'Isn't that the guy...?' and list off all his credits. They will then ask, 'Can you take a photo of us?' They have no idea who I am.''
