Rockers Linkin Park have become the latest act to score a transatlantic double after debuting new album Living Things at the top of the U.S. charts.
The band rocketed to the top of the British charts at the weekend (01Jul12) and they managed to squeak past Maroon 5 to land atop the Billboard 200 in America on Wednesday (04Jul12).
Only 1,000 sales separated the two groups, with Adam Levine and his bandmates coming in second with 222,000 copies of their new album Overexposed sold in its first week.
Living Things is Linkin Park's fifth number one in America.
Last week's number one album in the U.S., Justin Bieber's Believe, falls to three, while the Maybach Music Group Presents: Self Made 2 compilation debuts at four and R.Kelly rounds out the top five with Write Me Back, his 14th top 10 album.
