@I aintKidding: I don't know how we got on this subject on an article about a love-letter, but I think you are jumping to a lot of conclusions based on what you have read/heard in the media. But I won't blame you for that. I'm not disputing that Jackson had a history of drug-related problems and I am not some crazy fanatic who believes he could do not wrong. I'm just wondering how you can be so overtly judgmental and feel no compassion for him, just because he was who he was, when clearly he was suffering both psychologically and physically. Just like a proverbial hater, you differentiate between him and what you term "ordinary" and "normal" people - why? He was human like the rest of us, with human emotions, human needs AND human faults. Addiction to prescription medicines can happen to any of us. Because he was Michael Jackson - because you consider him a freak - because he had wealth and celebrity - he is not worthy of any understanding? His life was worthless because he was a celebrity and an addict? He deserved to die because he made some misguided decisions? We are all the same - whether it be Michael Jackson or the guy at the end of the street who's dependent on anti-depressants and drinks too much. lol blue. Don't ask them who and what they believe. If Latoya says something they don't likes he's a lying attention seeking media whore doing nothing but trying to make money out of being his sister. If she says something they do like, well she knows best because she was his sister lol. Same goes for anyone making comments, althogh Jermain and Latoya seem to be the ones in the firing line the most. If someone says a good thing they agree and praise. If that same person says something they don't like, they're a son of a bych liar. It's called being selective and same goes for all spects of jacko. They are very selective on what they hear and what they read and everyone/thing else are abused and threatened. I call it being stupid for making these comments in public for the world to see. And that's why they are referred to as floons. But they'll never realize why the world saw Jacko and them the way we do. I just can't get over that because someone could dance excuses him from all the scandal he created during his sordid life.

Addictions are not just to drugs and drug addiction does not have to mean heroin, cocaine etc. People are addicted to chocolate. Addiction to glue, meds, sleeping aids etc. It's addiction no matter what it is. He was addicted to pain meds, propofol and (as Walgren in the trial said) other substances. Jacko asked Murary if he would also give him propofol (as he did every doctor and nurse he seemed to encounter). Murray said yes. What does that tell you? That tells me it's time to find another doctor. Was Jackson too stupid to get that if a doctor is willing to be paid to do unethical things, he's not an honest one. Of course he knew. That's why he employed him because NO LEGIT DOCTOR WOULD TOUCH HIM WITH A BARGEPOLE. Fans, get it that Jackson employed Murray BECAUSE MURRAY AGREED TO DO WHAT JACKSON WANTED. He played Russian roulette with his own life by taking this stuff and seeking out a quack to administer it IN HIS BEDROOM! He was just as responsible for his death as Murray because he allowed murray to do it knowing that it was dangerous. But all drug addiction is and because of his addictions he was never going to live to an old age. He was lucky he got to 50 after spending half his life addicted to one thing or another and knowingly employing dodgy doctors. Geez you call others stupid! HA! Think about what you are saying because if you want normal intelligent people to pay attention you have to be realistic. I mean you all must be thanking god for murray, because you have your scapegoat to blame for all of jacko's mistakes and terrible choices. You should be thanking him for meeting jacko otherwise you'd have no-one to blame when he would have eventually been found dead after a last fatal fix. You'd have to have held him responsible for his 25 year habit or would it have been the fault of his brothers, or hair stylist? By the way, look up Anna Nicole Smith's autopsy. It was clean just like you know who. So can we say she wasn't addicted to anything either? You'll have to say she wasn't to be able to continue to deny Jacko's addictions. Geez the trial prosecution in his closing said so. No-one denied it, even his family. But fans? Noooooo, they argue he wasn't. But you know better than his own mother eh?

Just to comment purely on this personal letter; what puzzles me is how did it get into the auction in the first place and how did LMP know it was there to ask for its removal? It does prove the pressures of his life led to his sleep and health problems. I'm glad this article is more respectful than others, and does not call him 'Jacko' or use the foul nickname, so unnecessary, but typical of the unwarranted attention anything with his name in, attracts.

Just to comment on the letter, firstly what puzzles me is how it got in the auction in the first place, and how did LMP know it was there? Secondly it proves the pressures of his life were what led to MJ's health and sleep problems ultimately. That's nothing new, of course.

@marypoppins Toxicology at trial revealed no narcotics, metabolites or recreational drugs. Also revealed an above average healthy 50 year old male. There was no 'proof' of drug addiction. In addition, the coroner's finding was a homicide or death caused by another. Inv. Manslaughter is, in fact, one of the choices for charging a defendant. What was proved in court is that Murray's incompetent and reckless 'medical experimentation' caused the death of his ONE patient. Yes, Jackson used propofol...to sleep. Unfortunately, his trust was misplaced in Murray.

Pendragon .... are you serious???? What he was doing he had been doing for 25+ years. Before he brought kids into his home. After he brought kids into his home. He was using unethical sleeping aids since the 80's. He asked a doctor to administer this stuff. He was using aliases to obtain drugs, he was employing doctors who would supply him. When you have a doctor agree to do such things shows he was not only aware of him being unethical, but he accepted it. Because he would never be able to employ the services of a legit doctor. He was using Murray when he was living in Vegas and used him to administer this stuff. Fans say he was not in financial difficulties and was wealthy. He could afford to pay for his medical bills and not work, but chose to do so even though it would add to his addiction problems. And you want to lump him in with people who have no choices but have to work despite their medical problems, or cannot work because of their medical problems. No wonder you're fans of his. You're just as deluded as he was. Bottom line, what you write is extremely offensive and shows lack of knowledge and consideration for others predicaments. Because of his enhanced financial situation, compared to us ordinary plebs, he had choices that we do not have regarding what he wanted to do v what he had to do. He had no financial need to do that show thus increase his drug use. But he chose to do it to boost his ego, etc. I have no choice whatsoever. Just because he was 'Michael Jackson' does not excuse his behavior and lack of consideration towards his children's futures, happiness and well being. He had a 25+ year habit and that is not acceptable regardless of who you are or how hard your life is. Any addict of that duration has gone beyond 'it's an illness' to 'it's his choice'. 25 years of addiction is not excusable especially when you bring children into that life, and bring it into their homes. Which he certainly did do. For his own selfish reasons. Do not compare him to normal people. It's very insulting to normal people who really do struggle with illness and disablity with no financial cushion to aid them. Michael Jackson made his choices and he cannot blame others for them. Fans should be very careful. Your reputations are just as tarnished as his.

@I aint kiddin - Your comment is rather slanted -consider how many chronically sick people there are in the world who have to rely on medication to enable them to get through the day and function so that they can parent their children adequately. Would you judge them as harshly as you do Jackson? Many even have to rely on their children to support them during the day as they are not well enough - his children did at least have staff to supervise their activities and see to their everyday needs. Chronic insomnia is as debilitating as any illness and desperation for sleep is a torment. In Jackson's case he was fearful for the future of his children if he didn't sleep, that they would lose their home and their life together. It wasn't a question of needing to perform, but needing to provide some stability for the family - to work and settle down after leading a somewhat enforced nomadic existence for the previous 4 years. A little compassion for someone struggling with his psychological and physical well-being would not go amiss.

@Nina .... you have proved Mary Poppins right but I don't think you'll ever be able to understand how and why. Thanks also for the bombshell that in order for Jacko to perform he had to take drugs. Despite being responsible for minors, he put their needs below his need to perform if you say that performing meant he had to fuel his drug habbit further in order to do it. He was willing to voluntary place himself in a position that endangered his life through drug use and use of unethical sleeping aids and employing unethical doctors, albeit Murray was employed by Jackson since 2006. All that to perform AND with children in the house playing and sleeping while it was being carried out. Wow! Yet you lot will defend and excuse him. Amazing.

Well, this article was quoting TMZ so what can you expect re: facts and accuracy? Jo98b. I don't recall LMP ever saying anything bad about MJ. She said she never would and she hasn't. She sobbed uncontrollably at his funeral service so loved him too. Celebratory life must be complex and challenging to maintain a normal relationship. Mary Poppins. What news article are you commenting on? Fact 1 was that MJ needed prescription drugs to help him continue giving the world his amazing talent despite much physical and emotional pain and stress of which you/we have no idea; Fact 2 and 3. Conrad Murray was guilty of causing Michael Jackson's death, convicted and given a prison sentence.

@KCAT - I agree this is only half a story. Ms Presley found out about the sale of the letter from an MJ fan on Twitter. It seems the letter was stolen a while ago and the auctioneers obviously have a duty to ensure that items put up for sale at their auction house are legitimate. Mr Julien suggests he has removed the item as a goodwill gesture, rather than a legal obligation - a charge of handling stolen goods would not be good publicity for a company known for their celebrity [email protected] an inanely stupid remark. Lisa Marie Presley had a famous father - she did not need Michael to make her famous and she has raraely sought the limelight. In fact she said that Jackson was the first man who made her feel like a normal woman, rather than Presley's daughter. Your jealousy and hatred is misguided, ignorant and petty. If you are a fan of the man, you should be ashamed of the way you speak of someone he cared about.

I'm glad she decided to intervene. Everything from Michael's life should NOT be on the auction block. Just like his death bed that Ms.Katherine had to stop them from selling. If MJ wrote a "personal" letter to anyone, it should not go to the highest bidder.Certain things are OK, but Julian's and the estate really need to use some common sense when it comes to some things. Just like anyone else who has passed with has personal items left behind of importance they need to go to his family. These people will sell anything and how sad is that. The latest things is Elvis' old crypt. Somebody will be morbid enough to pay big bucks for it.

Mary Poppins, just wondering-who are you talking to? Because I only see 3 replies here, one being yours, one being mine, and one being another persons. None of us even mentioned a single solitary thing you mentioned here. Not a thing. That is a little scary on your part if you ask me.....

This article is so half written it's not even funny. The state of "Journalism" today makes me sick to my stomach. I actually went to school to be a Journalist and decided on a career else where because even then I thought that industry was horrendous. Now it's even worse. What ever happened to answering the questions-"Who, what, when, where and why? And even how?" The writer here hasn't even come close to doing that. Why you say-OK, was Lisa the one auctioning off the letter, only to change her mind? If she was, why did she change her mind? Was someone else auctioning it off and she found out about it and stopped it? If it wasn't her's and she found out about the letter and wanted to stop it-how did she find out? If Lisa wasn't the person who was auctioning it off, then who was? And how did they get it? Sorry I am just so sick and tired of half ass (and really it's even less than half ass here) reporting......

Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter not homicide. There is a difference legally and the coronor has no involvement in what charges, if any, are brought against anyone. What that means in terms of floonary law is irrelevant even though we realise they say anything to suit their own needs. As for him not being a drug addict, he was and it was proved in the trial by both prosecution and defence medical witnesses who confirmed Jacko asked if they were able to give him propofol. He even asked a nurse!!!!! The prosecution admitted it (listen to it before you deny that). Again in floonary land it's down to a case of selective hearing. Walgren's words were along the lines of he had no doubt that Michael Jackson was addicted to propofol and probably other substances and the trial was not his addiction but the supply and administration of drugs. Be aware of what your are saying before you say it becuase it just makes you look idiots, blinkered, totally ignorant but likely all 3. Saying something that is incorrect does not make it fact because it's how you need or want it to be. Opinions are not fact and what I have written is fact whether you like or agree to it. Fact Walgren said he had no doubt Jackson was a drug addict, fact Murray was not charged with any degree of homicide. Disputing or disagreeing only means you can't accept it.

When Michael Jackson lived in Ireland he had NO problem to sleep, this has nothing to do with his insomnia in 2009. Michael Jackson was NOT a drug addict, the coroner ruled the case as a HOMICIDE which means that Murray committed a himicide. This has absolutely nothing to do with his past problems with insomnia.
