Little Mix are inspired by 90s fashion.

The 'DNA' singers are known for their fun and fearless style and believe the clashing patterns, bright colours and quirky accessories of the decade they were born in sum up their identity as a band.

Asked what they like about the era, Jesy Nelson quipped: ''It's colourful, it's fun, it's just what we're about.''

Perrie Edwards added: ''I like the shapes of it, I like the high-waisted jeans, I like the high-waisted denim skirts, I like the crop tops, and whenever I look at pictures of me as a baby with my mum, I just think everything she wears is amazing.

''I'm obsessed with the stuff my mum used to wear, so maybe it's that.''

The girls - who were the first group to ever win 'The X Factor' in 2010 - were big fans of American teen sitcoms when they were younger and cite the likes of 'Saved by the Bell' character Kelly Kapowski as style icons.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock enthused: ''The '90s are just cool, it's just the best era ever for everything. TV shows - 'Kenan and Kel', 'Sister Sister', 'Saved by the Bell'... Just everything about it.''

While the singers might not always end up on the best-dressed lists for their daring fashion choices, they unanimously agree they respect each other for not caring what people think.

Jade Thrilwall added in an interview with Fashionista website: ''I admire that we're all quite brave, because I know not many people would wear what we wear sometimes because it's so loud, so to have the guts to wear a massive bright lemon and lime thing...''
