Livia Firth has been nominated for Ethical Campaigner at Red's Hot Women Awards 2012.

The 43-year-old eco-campaigner - who is married to Oscar-winning actor Colin - is co-founder of the Green Carpet Challenge and has been recognised for her efforts in the annual prestigious event.

In 2009, Livia launched the Green Carpet Challenge, in which she pledged to wear only eco-friendly, responsibly sourced or recycled clothes to every red carpet event she attends.

British Olympians Jessica Ennis and Nicola Adams, West End star Sheridan Smith, nine-year-old blogger MarthaPayne, Senior Sous Chef at Le Gavroche Monica Galetti and Olympic Torch Relay producer Deborah Hale have also been nominated in separate categories, and Red's editor Sam Baker says it's a tough year for all nominees because the competition is so strong.

She said: ''This is the fourth year that I've chaired the Red's Hot Women judging day - and every year it gets harder. The standard of the shortlist goes from strength to strength, so it's no surprise that there is a lot of heated discussion between judges as we go through the categories. When you take a look at the amazing women who are nominated, are you surprised? From entrepeneurs to scientists to designers to bloggers, these are everyday women achieving incredible things. Maybe it will get easier in year five, but I doubt it.''

Red's Hot Women Awards 2012, in association with euphoria Calvin Klein, take place on Wednesday 28 November.

The awards - which will be hosted by BBC 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne at London's One Marylebone - will honour British women who have shown impressive talent, success and imagination in their fields of work.
